POETRY CORNER
– 1/11/17
Hosted by Kathabela Wilson
It is in winter that we sense the birth of wonder and beauty, the warmth, the heat of inspiration that holds the promise of birth, development and harvest. Here the poets find those stunning moments of insight when freedom, healing, and inner heat create new life, and transformation. Here is the poetic power to make our world better.’

Dave Kuhlmann
a drip on the end
of the icicle…
that moment
between frozen
and free
Dave Kuhlmann from Silverdale, Washington, says: “In the middle of winter, I wait for that first indication of spring.”

Steve Travis
outside my window
winter winds are howling
inside
summer sits quietly in
a bowl of oranges
Steve Travis from New Jersey says: ”It’s been cold ‘n windy and the bowl of oranges was sitting there..and then the poem. I love the challenge of being present, to be open to ideas, the challenge of writing poetry and beauty when it flows out and the feeling of gratitude if someone is moved by something I write.”

in the midst of
the healing rain
an iris born again
Peggy Castro lives in Alhambra, but frequents many local gardens for renewal and inspiration. There she finds warmth and creative inner light in spite of difficulties.

> Poet and photographer Tom Clausen, who gave us “Sunset through icicles”, says: “Light in the winter is so precious even when seen through ice. To think we get a bit more light each day after the solstice is truly a hopeful solace.”
