Matsukaze
it has been years
since i’ve known mom or myself, much less;
to be real…we all wear costumes of some sortspring afternoon
in the attic
putting on grandma’s
old wedding gown
my brother feels grand
Matsukaze (Orrin PréJean) Matsukaze a classical singer and poet, now living in Texas, says “all of us at some time/in some way, are pretenders-souls making ourselves out to be more than we are…and for many varied reasons.”

Briony James
draped in disguise
a new self
emerges
once the mask
is securemy face painted white
black curling vines
brilliant flowers
mask
over a mask
Briony James, a poet living in Altadena, CA says “Let your imagination fly! Wear a mask!”
