Mom and Dad are still in love
Joyce S. Greene is a tanka poetess who has contributed to many literary journals. Joyce lives in Poughkeepsie, NY, and was inspired to write this tanka by her niece, Nell, dancing in the arms of her new husband. Nell is a lucky beneficiary of her parents’ and grandparents’ long, loving marriages.

she shrieked with laughter
as I chased her
down the hill’s gentle slope
butterflies paused to see
grownups behaving like children
Paul Amoz Tan, who lives in Malaysia says “Many years back, there was a hill behind our home. In the evenings the children will use the hill as a playground. Shrieks of laughter are heard as they play hide and seek. Now the hill is leveled for house development. My wife and I have been married for 48 years and recently this year we have been blessed with a fourth grandson, (two grandsons and two granddaughters)”.

husband and wife
we feel the first kicks together:
little fish of mine did your soul arrive?
Poet and artist Violette Rose-Jones, in Coff’s Harbor, New South Wales, Australia says: “Here’s an indigenous belief the soul arrives the first time you feel the baby kick. It is about our child Matty, as my husband and I walked on frosty ground in our home town”.
