The Playhouse Village Foundation has announced that it will postpone its community event, A Night Out in Playhouse Village, originally scheduled for February 12 at the Ice House Comedy Club. The decision was made out of respect for the survivors of the Eaton Fire and to allow for ongoing cleanup and evacuation efforts in the area.

The event, which was set to feature famed comedian Margaret Cho, was intended to raise funds crucial for supporting free public programs in Playhouse Village, such as jazz concerts, movie nights in Playhouse Village Park, family-friendly activities, public art, and improvements to local pedestrian infrastructure. These efforts are part of a broader mission to make Playhouse Village a welcoming place for everyone.
A statement from the foundation emphasized that Playhouse Village Park’s free events, which are always open to the wider community, now hold even greater significance following the tragic loss of Altadena’s Farnsworth Park. The foundation looks forward to welcoming residents from both Pasadena and Altadena this summer, offering a space for relaxation and togetherness.
Several key sponsors have already pledged their continued support for the rescheduled event, ensuring that the mission to foster community resilience remains on track. Among the leading sponsors are Lagerlof Cares, the charitable arm of Pasadena’s Lagerlof LLP, as well as Arash Danialifar of GD Realty, Rodolfo F. Ruiz of Vanderford & Ruiz LLP, and AC Hotel Pasadena. Additional local supporters include Coleen Carey of Lee & Associates, Phil and Dena Spanos Hawkey, Marjorie Lindbeck, and many others.
Playhouse Village Foundation Chair Phil Hawkey expressed the importance of community engagement during these challenging times. “Your participation as a donor or attendee absolutely makes the difference in our ability to deliver the free programs that Playhouse Village and the larger community need now,” Hawkey said. He urged residents to stay tuned for future announcements regarding the rescheduled date of A Night Out in Playhouse Village.
