As part of National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5–9, 2025), Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) announced Martin Dorado, a fifth-grade teacher at Madison Elementary, as the district’s Teacher of the Year.

Mr. Dorado, an alum of PUSD schools, has dedicated himself to the district since 2009, making a profound impact on students and the community. His commitment to education was recognized last year when he received the prestigious Helpful Honda Teacher Appreciation Award. Additionally, he was honored as the Grand Marshal of the 2024 Pasadena Latino Heritage Parade, further showcasing his contributions beyond the classroom.
As the PUSD Teacher of the Year, Mr. Dorado now moves forward to represent the district in the Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year awards program. His passion for teaching and his dedication to fostering an inclusive, inspiring learning environment have earned him well-deserved recognition.
