In response to the COVID-19 outbreak Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride have taken a number of steps to protect riders.
By News Desk
As an essential service, and in line with the Safer at Home order, the City of Pasadena is urging its residents to use transit only for essential trips.
A released statement by the city described Transit drivers as “ordinary heroes.” Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride drivers, many of whom are residents of Pasadena, are “going above and beyond to keep the vehicles extra clean throughout the day.” In addition to every transit vehicle being sanitized every night, Transit operators are cleaning high touch areas several times a day.
Schedule change in effect Sunday, April 19
To continue protecting passengers and drivers, service changes are going into effect on Sunday, April 19th. These changes include increasing the number of buses on Route 20, the system’s heaviest route, as well as helping passengers maintain social distancing while on the bus:
- Route 20 weekdays: 15 minute service.
- Route 20 Saturdays & Sundays: 20-30 minute service.
- Route 10: 30 minute service.
Other actions that have been taken to facilitate social distancing include:
- Rear door boarding to minimize contact between passengers and the driver
- Free fare to minimize contact between passengers and the driver
- Limiting the number of passengers on the vehicle to help provide social distancing space
- Taping off select seats on our buses to encourage social distancing
Must wear mask
Also, in accordance with the City of Pasadena health order, passengers must wear clean cloth face coverings over their noses and mouths while on board Pasadena Transit or Dial-A-Ride.
As Pasadena Transit drivers are wearing face coverings, riders are asked to do their part and help keep neighbors and fellow transit riders safe by wearing one too.
