With spring in full swing and a busy summer on the horizon, the City of Pasadena is reminding residents and visitors that a special event permit is required for any gatherings in city-managed parks and adjacent parking areas.

City officials say they’re thrilled to see more celebrations and community events taking place in public spaces, but they’ve also noticed a recent uptick in unpermitted gatherings. These unauthorized events, they caution, can create logistical challenges and raise fairness concerns for those who have properly secured permits.
“Obtaining a permit isn’t just a formality—it’s a crucial step that ensures compliance with local and state laws, protects event participants through required liability insurance, and helps the city coordinate scheduling and clean-up efforts,” said city spokesperson Lisa Derderian.
The permitting process also helps prevent scheduling conflicts and ensures reserved spaces aren’t disrupted by overlapping activities.
Pasadena officials are encouraging residents to continue enjoying the city’s parks, as long as they follow the appropriate steps to secure a permit.
Permits can be obtained by contacting the City’s Reservation Desk at RsvDesk@CityOfPasadena.net, by phone at (626) 744-7500, or in person at the Victory Park Recreation Center, located at 2575 Paloma St., Pasadena, CA 91107.
