A federal immigration operation in Pasadena on Saturday morning prompted a response from local police, but the situation remained peaceful and concluded “without incident,” according to a statement by Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris.
By News Desk
At approximately 7:30 am on June 28, 2025, Pasadena Police Department (PPD) received a 911 call reporting suspicious activity near the intersection of Del Mar Boulevard and Catalina Avenue. Officers and a supervisor responded and discovered the activity was part of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation.
Chief Harris said that PPD personnel verified the ICE agents’ identification but did not participate in the detention. One adult female was taken into custody by ICE without incident, he noted.
The Pasadena Fire Department was called to evaluate the detainee, who was treated at the scene and declined transport to a hospital. Her family was described as cooperative, which helped defuse tensions as a small group of bystanders gathered.
PPD officers remained at the scene to ensure public safety, Chief Harris said, emphasizing that the department’s involvement was limited to responding to the initial call for service.

The sanctuary city policy of “ No involvement by local law enforcement “ needs to be changed because we’re seeing collateral damage. If law enforcement worked with ICE, you wouldn’t literally see people being snatched off the streets or food vendors being taken into custody while the meat is still on the grill!!
