        Pasadena Opens Public Spaces to Help Residents Beat the Heat

      As scorching temperatures grip the region, the City of Pasadena is offering residents a variety of indoor spaces to escape the heat, including community centers, libraries, pools, and even an ice skating rink.

      Though not officially designated as Cooling Centers, several Community and Recreation Centers across Pasadena are open to the public and offer indoor relief from the heat:

      • Robinson Park Recreation Center, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. | (626) 744-7330
        Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00 am – 8:00 pm; Sat, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
      • Victory Park Recreation Center, 2575 Paloma St. | (626) 744-7500
        Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00 am – 8:00 pm; Sat, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
      • Villa Parke Community Center, 363 E. Villa St. | (626) 744-6530
        Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00 am – 8:00 pm; Sat, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
      • Jackie Robinson Community Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Ave. | (626) 744-7300
        Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00 am – 8:00 pm; Closed weekends

      Note: Extended hours may be activated in response to extreme heat. For updates, call (626) 744-7500.

      Pasadena Public Libraries

      While not official Cooling Centers, Pasadena’s public libraries offer air-conditioned spaces where residents can cool off and spend time indoors. Most branches are open Monday through Saturday:

      Cool Transportation Options

      Residents can use Pasadena Transit to reach any of these cooling locations. For schedule and route details, visit PasadenaTransit.net or call (626) 744-4055.

      Pasadena Dial-A-Ride members can call (626) 791-7200 to schedule a ride. To learn more about becoming a member, visit the Pasadena Transit website.

      Splash, Swim, and Skate to Stay Cool

      For those seeking water-based fun or a chill environment, the city recommends:

      • John J. Kennedy Pool – 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. | (626) 744-7330
      • La Pintoresca Park Splash Pad – 45 E. Washington Blvd., open from sunrise to sunset
      • Rose Bowl Aquatics Center – 360 N. Arroyo Blvd. | (626) 564-0330

      Additionally, the Pasadena Ice Skating Center, located at 300 E. Green St., offers a frosty retreat. For details, call (626) 578-0800.

      Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors, especially seniors and those with health conditions.
