The Pasadena Buddhist Temple has announced the cancellation and rescheduling of its annual Obon Festival, originally planned for Saturday, July 19, due to ongoing fire remediation efforts.

Temple officials explained that the campus remains closed to the public as cleanup and repairs continue following damage caused by the Eaton Fire, which broke out on January 7 and affected parts of Altadena and Northwest Pasadena. The fire damaged both the temple and its parsonage, necessitating a shift in operations.
During the restoration period, temple services will continue to be held online.
The Obon Festival has been tentatively rescheduled for September 14. Organizers say the fall event will take the form of an Aki (Fall) Matsuri, featuring traditional food and dancing. Additional details will be announced as planning progresses.
