The City of Pasadena has unveiled a new Extreme Weather Portal, providing residents with a centralized hub for weather updates, emergency alerts, and preparedness resources. This tool aims to help the community better respond to increasingly frequent and severe weather events
By News Desk
The portal aggregates information from trusted sources, including the National Weather Service, offering real-time updates on weather forecasts, air quality, and emergency conditions. It also highlights crucial local resources such as:
- Red Flag Restrictions during wildfire-prone conditions
- Cooling Centers during periods of extreme heat
- Bad Weather Shelters during cold snaps
Designed as a one-stop destination for weather-related guidance, the portal might be helpful for residents with access and functional needs, as well as pet owners seeking support during extreme weather.
The city encourages all residents to bookmark the page and check it regularly—especially ahead of predicted severe weather like heat waves, cold spells, heavy rainfall, or high winds.
In addition to using the portal, community members are urged to sign up for the Pasadena Local Emergency Alert System (PLEAS) and take five key steps to strengthen personal and neighborhood disaster readiness:
- Get Alerts
- Make a Plan
- Pack a Go Bag
- Build a Stay Box
- Help Friends and Neighbors
