Landlords in Pasadena are urged to complete their registration for the city’s annual Rental Registry by October 31, 2025, to avoid late fees and penalties.

      By News Desk

The registration period opened on Monday, September 1, 2025, marking the second cycle of the city’s mandatory program that requires all residential rental properties to be registered with the City of Pasadena.

This year, landlords must submit their registration and pay the $238.00 fee per unit within the designated registration window. Failure to do so will result in penalties, with escalating fees based on how late the registration is completed.

      Key Dates for Landlords

      • Registration Period: September 1 – October 31, 2025
      • Final Deadline: October 31, 2025
      • Grace Period: No late fee applies through November 7, 2025

      Steps to Complete Registration

      1. Verify Property Information: Log in to the Rental Registry portal and confirm that your ownership details, contact information, and unit data are correct.
      2. Prepare Your Information: Gather rent amounts, tenancy start dates, and any exemption documentation, if applicable.
      3. Submit Your Registration: Double-check all information and submit it through the online portal.
      4. Pay the Fee: The registration is not complete until the fee is paid. This year’s fee remains $238.00 per unit.

Landlords who miss the October 31st deadline will have a 7-day grace period until November 7, 2025, to complete the registration without incurring a late fee. However, if the registration remains incomplete after this date, penalties will apply:

      • 8–45 Days Late (November 8 – December 22, 2025): 15% late fee ($35.70 per unit)
      • 46–90 Days Late (December 23, 2025 – February 5, 2026): 30% late fee ($71.40 per unit)
      • 91+ Days Late (February 6, 2026, and beyond): 50% late fee ($119.00 per unit)

      Assistance Available

Landlords who need help navigating the registration process can contact the Rent Stabilization Department for assistance. Staff are available to guide landlords through every step of the registration, and appointments can be scheduled directly via the Rental Registry website.

For more information, landlords can reach the Rent Stabilization Department at (626) 744-7999 or visit CityOfPasadena.net/Rent-Stabilization.
