The City of Pasadena’s Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS) Department, in partnership with the Commission on the Status of Women, is excited to present HERstory 2025—a dynamic, free financial literacy workshop designed to empower women with the essential financial tools and knowledge they need to achieve financial resilience.

      By News Desk

The event, titled Mastering Money: Financial Resilience for Women, will take place on Thursday, March 13, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Learning Center at All Saints Church, located at 132 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena.

This empowering evening will offer attendees the chance to connect with expert speakers, community partners, and fellow participants, fostering valuable relationships and facilitating the exchange of crucial financial insights. The Commission extends its gratitude to the Pasadena Federal Credit Union and Supervisor Kathryn Barger for their generous support in making this event possible

A Special Welcome and Expert-Led Sessions

California State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez will kick off the event with inspiring welcome remarks. The workshop will then be facilitated by Marina Batliwalla, Producer and Host of the Banking on Girls podcast, and Principal and Senior Investment Consultant at Mercer Wealth

      Three interactive mini-sessions

Participants will engage in three hands-on, expert-led mini-sessions designed to equip them with actionable knowledge for financial success:

      • Tonetta Conner, CPA and Managing Partner of the Harrington Group, will present Financial Fundamentals for Everyday Life. In this session, attendees will learn the essentials of budgeting, expense management, and tax filing, while also exploring how to build a solid financial safety net and navigate tax relief following a disaster.

      • Diana Herrera, Regional Manager of the Pasadena Federal Credit Union, will host Banking, Credit & Loans for Financial Resilience. This session will delve into key strategies for managing account types, optimizing savings, maintaining strong credit, and making informed loan decisions to foster financial stability.

      • Maria Khader, a Certified Retirement Plan Specialist, will lead Planning for Long-Term Financial Stability. Maria will help participants set clear, achievable financial goals, navigate investment options, and create a personalized roadmap for long-term financial security.

HERstory 2025 is completely free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be provided, and both English-to-Spanish translation and American Sign Language interpretation will be available to ensure accessibility for all attendees.

Community members are encouraged to register in advance at bit.ly/HERstory2025 to secure their spot.

For more information, contact Leticia Lopez with the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department at LeLopez@CityOfPasadena.net.
