The Pasadena Bulldogs brought grit and determination this season, securing their first CIF Southern Section title since 1933 with a 21-17 victory over the Gahr Gladiators.

The Pasadena Bulldogs concluded the season with an 8-6 record. The Bulldogs demonstrated significant growth, especially after their disappointing 0-10 season last year. Their championship win is a testament to their perseverance, as they overcame a 17-15 deficit to claim the title.
Senior running back Josiah Rucker was a standout player during the game, rushing for 97 yards on 12 carries, including the critical juncture 34-yard touchdown that won the game, 21-17. Pasadena quarterback Dutch Burbidge also played a key role, completing 9 of 13 passes for 108 yards and secured two touchdown passes. In a defining moment, Andrew Johnson’s crucial interception helped deal the final blow to the Gladiators in the closing minutes. The mid-season player transfers by Pasadena were instrumental in the team’s changing fortunes, adding fresh talent that greatly reinforced their playoff push.
This CIF-Southern Section title marks a historic achievement for Pasadena Bulldogs, ending a 91-year drought since securing their last championship. The Bulldogs’ tenacity throughout the season, particularly standing out in the postseason, showcases the tough but ultimately cathartic journey they have endured.
With their inspiring turnaround, Pasadena may now potentially earn a spot in the CIF State regional playoffs. Their journey serves as a powerful testament to how unwavering resolve can conquer adversity. The Bulldogs have shown that with strong perseverance and commitment, any challenges can be surmounted, regardless of what obstacles lie in their path.
