With rain and windy conditions expected this week, the Pasadena Fire Department is reminding residents that water and electricity can be a dangerous combination, particularly when it comes to outdoor holiday decorations.
By News Desk
Fire officials noted that many holiday lights and electrical displays, especially in the Upper Hastings Ranch area, have not been exposed to significant rainfall yet this season. As storms approach, uncovered or exposed electrical outlets and connections may pose safety hazards. Properly covered outlets are considered safe, while exposed connections increase the risk of electrical problems.
The department is encouraging residents to use the remaining dry days to prepare. Recommendations include covering outdoor electrical outlets, securing holiday decorations, and removing large holiday inflatables. Fire officials warn that strong winds could turn unsecured decorations and inflatables into projectile hazards.
The Pasadena Fire Department emphasized that taking these precautions now can help prevent damage, reduce fire risks, and keep neighborhoods safe as weather conditions change.
