The City of Pasadena has canceled all scheduled programming at three local parks today following reports of apparent federal enforcement activity.
By News Desk
In a statement released Saturday morning, June 21, city officials announced the cancellation of swim lessons and other programs at Villa Parke, Robinson Park, and Victory Park. The decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” after social media posts surfaced showing what appeared to be federal enforcement activity at Villa Parke earlier in the day.
A video shared by the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) appears to show a man being apprehended by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in the Villa Parke area.
City officials cited concerns about the “potential escalation of conflict that unannounced federal enforcement activity causes” as the reason for the sudden move.
The parks remain open to the public, but all scheduled activities have been suspended for the day.
