Hosting an annual Arbor Day event is a commitment by Pasadena’s Department of Public Works to celebrate the City’s urban forest and uphold the tenets of the Tree City USA program.
In partnership with Council District 4 and Pasadena Beautiful Foundation, Public Works is hosting Arbor Day on Saturday, April 20 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at Victory Park (2575 Paloma Street).
Attendees will meet at the parking lot off Paloma Street. At the event, Public Works Forestry staff will demonstrate how to plant a new tree and discuss basic tree care tips. After which, volunteers will be assigned to a staff planting supervisor and will complete the tree plantings throughout the park. Planting volunteers must wear closed-toe footwear and appropriate attire. Free mulch will be available for pickup as well as tree care informational items.
Pasadena Beautiful Foundation (PBF) has generously donated 25 new 24-inch box Redbud Cercis canadensis trees for the event. PBF volunteer Emina Darakjy individually tagged the trees for the event from a local nursery. City staff from Public Works Department and Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) worked together to identify and prepare the planting sites for the event.
