Pasadena residents and businesses are advised that City Hall and most City services will be closed in observance of the New Year’s holiday on Thursday, Jan. 1. Several departments, however, will continue to operate essential services, and limited exceptions are in place.

      By News Desk

The Pasadena Fire and Police Departments will remain fully staffed to provide patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services. Residents are urged to call 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies. Non-emergency calls and reports of suspicious activity can be made to the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4241.

For utility-related issues, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) will respond to emergencies on Jan. 1. Power emergencies should be reported to (626) 744-4673, and water-related emergencies to (626) 744-4138. Customers may also access their accounts and make payments through the automated phone system at (626) 744-4005 or online at PWPweb.com.

The City Service Center (CSC) will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1. Residents can still submit service requests through the web or mobile app, or by calling (626) 744-7311. Requests submitted over the weekend will be monitored.

Trash collection citywide will be delayed by one day during both Christmas and New Year’s weeks. Holiday tree recycling drop-off is available through Friday, Jan. 2, at Eaton Blanche Park (3100 E. Del Mar Blvd.) and Robinson Park (1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.) from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Trees must be free of stands, ornaments and lights. Curbside Christmas tree pickup will take place Jan. 5 through Jan. 16 on residents’ regular collection days.

Pasadena Transit Route 33 will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thursday, Jan. 1. All other transit routes and Pasadena Dial-A-Ride services will not operate on New Year’s Day.

Parking meters will be free, and parking time limits will not be enforced on Thursday, Jan. 1. Overnight parking restrictions will be suspended through Saturday, Jan. 3, and will resume at 2:00 am on Sunday, Jan. 4. Enforcement for red curbs, no-parking zones, blocked driveways and fire hydrants will continue at all times.

All Pasadena Public Library branches will close early at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 31. On Friday, Jan. 2, the Hastings, Hill Avenue, La Pintoresca and San Rafael branches will reopen for regular hours, while all other library locations will resume normal operations on Saturday, Jan. 3.

The City’s Permit Center will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, but many services will remain available online. Residents can obtain subtrade permits and submit plans for new construction, tenant improvements, accessory dwelling units and additions through Permit Center Online.

Recreation and community centers will close at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and will remain closed on Thursday, Jan. 1. All parks will stay open for general use, though no holiday site reservations will be accepted.

Additionally, the Pasadena Public Health Department’s Immunization Clinic Services, Cashier Services and Vital Records Public Counter will be closed for all in-person services on Monday, Dec. 29, and Thursday, Jan. 1.
