Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis awarded over $1.6 million in First District Community Grants Program funding to eight organizations and agencies.

“Over my tenure, I have had the honor of being able to deliver millions of dollars in funding for community organizations and municipalities working to improve lives in Los Angeles County’s First District,” said Supervisor Solis. “Today’s investments are a continued commitment of mine to strengthen community-led efforts around health, safety, and well-being.”
The Community Grant Program helps develop and support services that meet the diverse needs of First District residents in such key areas as arts, environmental justice, health, housing, immigration, and education.
The local organizations that received funding from this second round of Community Grants Program are:
- San Gabriel Valley Conservation Corps – $850,000 for beautification projects in unincorporated communities across the San Gabriel Valley.
- YWCA San Gabriel Valley – $50,000 to strengthen programming and services.
- God’s Pantry – $100,000 housing for Transitional Age Youth (TAY) who are aging out of the foster care system.
- SBCC Thrive LA / South Bay Center for Counseling – $15,000 for Jardin Monarca, a beautification project that will produce access to green space and activation opportunities for East Los Angeles residents.
- Pomona Public Library – $130,000 to expand their children’s tutoring/story time room.
- City of Baldwin Park – $322,551 to support the Serenity Homes, a 16-unit tiny home bridge housing site.
- City of La Puente – $50,000 to subsidize free youth sports programming in tee-ball, soccer, and basketball.
- Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation – $108,534 for programming for older adults at San Angelo Park in unincorporated Avocado Heights.
This latest round of County funding is the most recent in a series of awards granted to non-profit organizations and schools in the First District. Supervisor Solis recently distributed another $4.5 million in First District Community Grants Program funds for community programming and services, including $2 million to the City of El Monte, $1 million to CultivaLA, $851,000 to JWCH Institute, Inc., $650,000 to the Wellness Center, $90,000 to the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, $75,000 to Homies Unidos, $50,000 to Peace Over Violence, $30,000 to Griffith STEAM Magnet Middle School, $15,000 to Harrison Street Elementary, $10,000 to Garfield High School, $10,000 to Levitt Pavilion Los Angeles, $10,000 to Grand Performances, and $15,000 to the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center.
