One more round of moderate to heavy rainfall will sweep across our area tonight. A Flood Watch is in effect from February 7, 7:15 pm until 11:00 pm.
By News Desk
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding and debris flows are imminent or occurring. Residents should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Avoid debris flows and landslides.
Excessive runoff may result in additional mud and rock slides. Vulnerable areas include the Santa Monica Mountains, the Hollywood Hills, Palos Verdes, Hacienda Heights and the Puente Hills, the Verdugo Mountains, the lower slopes of the San Gabriel Mountains, and any other areas adjacent to hillsides and mountains.
Heavy rainfall from the previous storm has saturated the ground, increasing the risk for mud and rock slides. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
Doppler radar indicated showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain that will continue overspreading the warned area. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 45 minutes. It will take very little additional rain to create life threatening landslides and flash flooding.
