Los Angeles County Chair Pro Tem Hilda L. Solis praised the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals after it upheld a temporary restraining order against the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement tactics.

In a statement issued following the decision, Solis called the ruling “a critical victory for the rule of law and for communities across Los Angeles County.”
The court’s decision halts what Solis described as “indiscriminate and warrantless immigration raids,” which she said have left deep scars across immigrant communities. “Families have been torn apart. Children are afraid to go to school. Older adults are hesitant to seek medical care,” she stated, adding that small businesses have also felt the strain of the enforcement actions.
Solis criticized the T. administration’s policies as being motivated by “an artificial quota and political motives rather than public safety,” and accused the former president of acting “above the law.” She emphasized that the damage inflicted by these raids was not anecdotal but widespread and systemic.
“For nearly two months, our communities have lived in fear,” Solis noted. “Today’s decision marks a meaningful step toward protecting Angelenos’ dignity and rights.”
The Chair Pro Tem also reaffirmed her commitment to defending immigrant communities, pledging to “pursue every available path” to ensure due process and justice. The Ninth Circuit ruling is expected to have far-reaching implications for immigration enforcement in the region and beyond.
