Pasadena police have released new details in the unsolved murder of 13-year-old Iran Moreno, who was fatally shot while playing video games in his bedroom on November 20, 2021. The announcement comes as detectives continue their efforts to identify and apprehend the suspect in the tragic case that shocked the community.

According to investigators, the gunman exited a gray 2017–2020 Ford Fusion that had stopped in a parking lot across from Iran’s residence in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue. Surveillance video shows the suspect, wearing a red and black North Face hooded sweater, firing two shots in an easterly direction from the lot. One of the bullets pierced the walls of the Moreno family home, striking the eighth grader and causing fatal injuries.
Iran, a straight-A student at Blair Middle School who loved basketball and soccer, collapsed in the living room after being hit. His father held him as the family waited for emergency responders. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police have enhanced surveillance footage and identified a partial license plate number from the suspect’s vehicle: QJ117. The shooter is believed to be between 33 and 37 years old, at least six feet tall, and weighing between 185 and 195 pounds.
