Monterey Park’s Lunar New Year Festival returns from January 18-19 to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Snake.

The festival will be from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm on January 18 and 10:00 am – 7:00 pm on January 19 in Downtown Monterey Park. Admission is free.
Monterey Park’s Lunar New Year festival features vendors offering unique gifts and specialty items, food booths with various types of delectable items, amusement rides, and lots of live entertainment. The traditional New Year lion and dragon dancers will kick off the festival Saturday morning. Various types of entertainment will be featured on both days. A carnival fun zone will be featured in parking lots at the corner of Garvey and Lincoln Avenues.
Free Parking and Shuttle Bus Service
Round trip pick-up and drop-off shuttle services will be available at the following locations from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm on both days:
- Barnes Park: 350 S. McPherrin Ave. No shuttle, free parking only.
- Mark Keppel High School: 501 E. Hellman Ave. Drop off at 7-Eleven lot on Alhambra Ave.
- Repetto Elementary School: 650 Grandridge Ave. Drop off at Lincoln Hotel parking lot behind hotel on Garfield Ave.
- Ynez Elementary School: 120 S Ynez Ave. No shuttle, free parking only.
Street Closures
- East Garvey Avenue between Garfield and Alhambra Avenues will be closed from approximately 5:00 pm on Friday, January 17 until approximately 6:00 am on Monday, January 20.
- Surrounding streets such as Baltimore, Lincoln, Russell, Nicholson, Everett, and Edgley will be closed.
- Garfield Avenue will remain open for north/south traffic.
- MPK Spirit and Metro buses will be detoured. For Metro info, visit their service advisories page.
