As many families cherish their Christmas trees and decorations, Monterey Park Fire and Public Works departments remind everyone to not keep them around for too long as they may dry out and become a fire hazard.
By News Desk
Tree recycling is available on the regular trash day beginning December 26 and for two weeks after.
Useful tips
- Remove all decorations, nails, tree stand, and water bucket.
- If the tree is over six feet, cut it in half.
- Place your tree on the curb on your normal trash collection day next to your automated containers.
- If you live in a multifamily unit with dumpster collection, place your tree at the curb (or alley, if applicable) on the same trash day as the single-family homes in your immediate neighborhood.
> If you are unsure of whether your street has alley collection, visit Ware Disposal or call 626-225-2400.
