Missing Monterey Park Teenager Safely Located

Alison Jillian Chao, reported missing Tuesday, July 16, has been safely located.

This morning, July 23, 2024, Alison Chao was found safe, according to a statement released by Monterey Park Police Department with the assistance of the Glendale Police Department.

A few details are emerging regarding how she was found. TV reports indicated that Alison showed up, alone, outside the ABC7 Los Angeles station in Glendale. A security guard spotted the teenager walking towards the station while someone passing by recognized her as the missing minor and called police. Alison said she was going to the TV station to tell her side of the story, according to an ABC7 report.

Alison Jillian Chao, 15, went missing around 5:30 pm on July 16. Her disappearance captured the hearts of many in the community and search parties were organized in the hopes of finding her.

Community members and many local, state and federal partners assisted during the investigation. Monterey Park PD is currently handling the investigation.
