POETRY CORNER

Briony James
there are holes
in those old velvet poinsettias
wear and tear
of Christmases past
when you were here with me
Briony James started dancing at three, music at four and discovered playing with words at five. Her sensitive verse captures the ephemeral nature of life and its tattered edges.

Jean Sudbury
I remember looking out the window,
seeing the lights,
the robin’s nest,
and the moon.
It seems so long ago,
yet it could have been yesterday.
Jean Sudbury, a dynamic artist, writer, photographer and musician says “In 2012, I felt a powerful urge to visit with my Mom as often as possible. How did I know that it was so important?”

Paul Amoz Tan

shoppers busy looking
for Christmas gifts in the mall
thinking of her shopping
for our kids
Paul Amoz Tan lives in Malaysia where he is now experiencing the effects of the monsoon season ~rain, wind and floods. Retired from teaching, he’s looking after three active grandchildren and loves reading and writing poems.

another snowflake
lands into
my empty hands…
once again wishing
you were here
this Christmas

Kathabela, and Wafic – reading this corner today, I am struck with appreciation for the creation and coming together, bringing together of Wafic and kathabela in teamwork to fashion this little JewelStar in the Wednesdays netsky –
-NOTE: “creation” and “coming together”/”bringing together” are synonyms
it is my understanding – correct me if I’m wrong (sic) – Wafic names a theme, kathabela receives, transmits the theme to poets, who receive and submit back offerings on the theme; Kathabela selects, edits and further searches for contributing images, which Wafic also receives, edits and further may contribute images=ultimately a poetry corner twinkling with intelligence and imagery- in such small, bright brilliant ways is the pertinence of poetry to life continually created: vital, living, relevant and shining![*l*]
Lovely….all!
