For this year, students were asked to respond to a prompt about the future of electrification and were encouraged to consider the benefits and challenges as the world continues to become more electrified.
Emmeline Clougherty
Emmeline Clougherty is the PWP Educational Scholarship first-place winner. Her essay explored the sustainable and reliable advantages of electrification in the community, and reflected on actions governments around the world, including Pasadena, are taking to incentivize citizens to be more thoughtful about electrification. Emmeline plans to attend the University of California, Berkeley in the fall to study environmental policy.
Londyn Sewell
Londyn Sewell is the PWP Educational Scholarship second-place winner. Londyn’s essay focused on the revolutionary impact the widespread electrification of vehicles and buildings has on our world, and how electrification offers transformative solutions for some of the most pressing issues we face. She plans to attend Michigan State University, where she will study communications to pursue a career in sports broadcasting and journalism/marketing.
Each year, PWP chooses two high school seniors from Pasadena for an academic scholarship. First place is awarded $5,000, and second place is awarded $2,500. The program is open to high school seniors who reside in PWP’s service area and plan to enroll as full-time students at accredited post-secondary institutions in the upcoming academic year.
