Altadena Meals on Wheels (AMOW) announced the return of its essential meal delivery service to homebound residents, following a temporary suspension due to the destructive Eaton Fire that impacted the region in January.

For over 50 years, AMOW has been a vital resource for seniors and others in the community who are unable to leave their homes due to illness, recovery from surgery, or age. Since its founding in 1973, the program has provided hot, nutritious meals to help individuals maintain their health, independence, and comfort in their own homes.
“We hope to be more than a meal service, serving as a source of healing and connection for long-time clients, new clients, and our entire community as we rebuild a stronger Altadena together,” said Board Member, Shelley Mitchel.
AMOW serves all Altadena residents, with no specific eligibility requirements. Any local resident in need is welcome to apply. To learn more or sign up for meals, interested individuals can call 626-794-0313.
The organization is also seeking volunteers to assist with meal deliveries. AMOW is looking for drivers who can commit to delivering meals at least twice a month on designated routes in Altadena, Monday through Friday. Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of the program, and those interested in contributing a few hours of their time can get started by calling 626-794-0313.
As a non-profit, Altadena Meals on Wheels does not receive federal funding and relies on the generosity of local donors, community organizations, and volunteers. The organization invites individuals and businesses to support its mission through tax-deductible donations on their website: altadenamealsonwheels.org.
