4:31 pm – Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger has proclaimed a state of emergency in Los Angeles County to address widespread unrest following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25. This proclamation will supersede all cities’ proclamations within L.A. County. Read the full proclamation here.
3:00 pm – Given concern over injuries and destruction of property in neighboring cities, last night the City of Pasadena imposed a curfew overnight.
Due to continuing incidents throughout Los Angeles County, coupled with concerns that non-Pasadena residents may attempt to disrupt our community, the City will impose a second night of curfews effective at 6:00 pm tonight (moved up from 8:00 pm after L.A. County’s proclamation) until 6:00 am, June 1.
No significant incidents in Pasadena
There are not any significant incidents in Pasadena at this time, but we are mindful of the destruction and looting in Los Angeles, Santa Monica and elsewhere and will update our community should the situation warrant.
Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek said:
It is heartbreaking that peaceful protesting has been diminished by unlawful behavior. We must take proactive measures to protect our residents and businesses so that our first responders can focus on doing their jobs actively patrolling and monitoring citywide activities. We appreciate all of our residents staying at home.
The curfews prohibit anyone from being on public streets, alleys, parks or any public place and will be enforced.

On behalf of the City Council, I support this proactive but necessary decision out of an abundance of caution for our community. We thank our residents and businesses for their patience and please stay tuned to official city announcements and news media for any updates.
