For the second year in a row, a walk that highlights downtown Pasadena’s beautiful stained-glass window art is being planned on Thursday April 20th, 2017.

In celebration of our connection with earth, and part of Throop Church’s “Thirty Days for the Earth”, this hidden treasure walk will canvas Downtown Pasadena with the intention of discovering the stained glass treasures hidden in plain sight in the city.
Curator Everett Howe, intern minister at Throop Church, says:
This walk aims to deepen our connection to and care of earth through education, and action.
Visiting
The stained-glass window walk will include visits to the four Pasadena churches, with docents at each location giving context and history about the windows:

Throop Unitarian Universalist Church
Built in 1923, Throop Church has magnificent stained glass windows that were created by the prominent American painter, muralist, and designer Charles J. Connick.

All Saints Church
Learn about this 91-year-old Gothic Revival church with glowing stained-glass windows that have to be seen and admired.

First Congregational Church of Pasadena
A continuing work from commission (1932) to final installation (1952,) First Congregational’s beautiful stained glass window were made by the Judson Studios of Pasadena.

First United Methodist Church of Pasadena
First United Methodist Church posses some inspiring stained glass windows, including the Tiffany window of “the boy Jesus.”
Get your walking shoes, meet at the Throop Learning Garden (in front of the main entrance), and discover the wonders of “Many Windows, One Light” on this Hidden City Walk.
