In response to widespread financial strain caused by the 2025 Eaton and Palisades fires and windstorm, Los Angeles County has launched the Emergency Rent Relief Program to support qualifying property owners and tenants facing ongoing economic hardship.
By News Desk
The Program offers financial assistance to cover a range of housing‑related debts, including unpaid rent, mortgage payments, and other eligible expenses directly tied to the disasters or to any other emergency‑related financial hardship. County officials say the goal is to stabilize housing for residents still recovering from the impacts of the 2025 events.
While tenants cannot apply directly, they are encouraged to notify their landlords if they have accumulated rent debt due to emergency‑related circumstances. Property owners may then submit an application on behalf of affected tenants.
The application window is currently open, with all submissions due by Friday, January 23, 2026, at 4:59 pm.
Full eligibility guidelines and application instructions are available on the County’s Emergency Rent Relief Program website at this link..
