Los Angeles County has officially reopened applications for its Emergency Rent Relief Program, offering financial assistance to landlords and tenants facing ongoing economic strain from recent emergencies.
By News Desk
The program, administered by the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA), aims to reduce evictions and stabilize small property owners still recovering from significant financial setbacks.
The renewed program provides up to six months of past‑due rent coverage, with a maximum award of $15,000 per rental unit. Eligible applicants may also receive help with unpaid mortgages and other housing‑related expenses tied to emergency‑related financial hardship, including impacts from the 2025 Eaton or Palisades fire and windstorm events.
A key priority of this year’s rollout is support for small landlords with four or fewer rental units, a group the County says has been disproportionately affected by emergency‑related losses. By assisting these property owners, officials hope to prevent further displacement of tenants who have fallen behind on payments.
Eligible Uses of Funds
Grant awards may be applied toward:
- Unpaid rent (rental arrearages)
- Unpaid mortgage obligations
- Other unpaid housing‑related expenses directly connected to emergency financial hardship
County officials emphasize that the program is designed to keep residents housed while helping property owners recover from mounting debt.
Applications are now open, and both landlords and tenants are encouraged to apply. More information, including eligibility details and application instructions, is available at LACountyRentRelief.com.
