Los Angeles County property owners are reminded about the free Homeowner Alert Service, a vital tool designed to help protect homeowners from title fraud and unauthorized property recordings.
By News Desk
By signing up for an Assessor E-Service account and registering their email address with their property, homeowners receive timely email notifications whenever any document, such as a grant deed, lien, or loan, is recorded against their property. Alerts are sent within 48 hours of the activity, enabling owners to quickly detect potential fraud or errors.
Title fraud, where criminals forge ownership documents to illegally transfer or encumber properties, continues to be a significant threat nationwide. With the county’s assessed property values exceeding $2.176 trillion, protecting ownership rights has never been more critical.
Assessor Jeff Prang emphasizes, “This free service empowers homeowners to monitor their property records in real time and take swift action if anything suspicious occurs. It’s an important step in safeguarding your investment.”
Homeowners are encouraged to visit the Assessor’s website and enroll in the service today to stay informed and better protect their property.
