Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger is highlighting the newly launched Los Angeles County Emergency Rent Relief Program, which is now officially accepting applications. This program aims to provide essential financial assistance to landlords and homeowners affected by the Eaton Fire, as well as other emergency-related hardships.

The initiative offers grants to cover eligible rental debt and related housing expenses, with potential assistance of up to six months of rent and mortgage relief, depending on program limits. Landlords must submit applications on behalf of their tenants, who will then complete a tenant profile to help determine eligibility. Homeowners displaced by recent wildfires or landlords facing fire-related repairs on rental properties are also eligible to apply.
“The Eaton Fire has created a housing and rental crisis for thousands of households, and I’m committed to doing everything possible to help individuals and families remain stably housed,” said Supervisor Barger. “I strongly encourage landlords to apply. This help is for renters and displaced homeowners. Anyone in need should contact the program as soon as possible. These grants are lifelines that can stabilize neighborhoods and prevent displacement.”
The Emergency Rent Relief Program is designed to stabilize housing in communities impacted by disasters, helping renters stay in their homes while also supporting landlords and homeowners facing financial strain due to the fires.
In addition to online applications, a special in-person workshop will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Altadena Community Center (730 East Altadena Drive, Altadena, CA 91001). The workshop, hosted by the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs in partnership with Klimt Consulting, LLC, will provide one-on-one application assistance in both English and Spanish.
Supervisor Barger emphasized the importance of hands-on support: “This assistance is critical to ensuring landlords and homeowners can navigate the application process with confidence. The easier we make it to apply, the faster we can deliver relief to renters who need it.”
Landlords and eligible homeowners can find more information and apply online at lacountyrentrelief.com. Applications are now open and will be accepted through January 23, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.
