When renowned naturalist John Muir ventured to Pasadena in the summer of 1877, he set out on a journey through the San Gabriel Mountains, capturing the beauty of the region as he hiked to the summit of Mt. Wilson. Alongside his friend and photographer, Carleton Watkins, Muir documented Sierra Madre as it stood over 140 years ago.
