Thursday, April 21, is the Birthday of environmentalist John Muir.
By Bruce Palmer Jr.
Turning 128, Scottish-American john Muir (April 21, 1838 – December 24, 1914,) was a naturalist, author, environmental philosopher, an early advocate of preservation of wilderness in the United States, and the founder of the Sierra Club (125 years ago).
For his birthday, and in honor of Earth Day, watch a short film (four-and-a-half-minute) directed by Michael Coleman, then make a point to head to the mountains for a short get away!
John Muir wrote once:
I’m losing precious days. I’m degenerating into a machine for making money…I must break away, get out into the mountains.
Watch the movie below and let’s “break away, get out into the mountains.”
Michael Coleman is an accomplished Director whose behind-the-scenes work has been featured in such films as Director Brett Morgen’s, The Rolling Stones: Crossfire Hurricane, Director Cameron Crowe’s, Pearl Jam Twenty, Director Nimrod Antal’s, Metallica: Through the Never and Aerosmith’s multi platinum film, You Gotta Move.
