Showers and thunderstorms have expanded into the Desert Southwest ahead of a deep upper trough that is slowly moving east.

Locally heavy rainfall could lead to scattered instances of flash flooding through the night of February 6 in Southern California.
Although rain rates/totals will be trending downward across Southern California compared to the last couple of days, the risk for flooding and mud/debris flows remains elevated given the very wet antecedent conditions. Conditions will improve through the rest of the week as precipitation becomes lighter and the flash flood threat decreases.
The roads to Mount Wilson received six inches of snow, so the Observatory will be closed until further notice.
In Sierra Madre, the City’s Public Works crews have closed the footpath at Brookside. It is anticipated that the closure will last at least one week. Crews must wait until they are able to safely assess the damage due to heavy ground saturation from the latest winter storm.
