POETRY CORNER
– 4/18/18
Hosted by Kathabela Wilson
Welcome to our International Haiku Poetry Day Celebration Corner. How better to celebrate the earth but to say it in haiku? When I read Paul David Mena’s poem which begins our sequence, I was thoroughly inspired by his corner grocer to create this haiku corner ‘in sync with nature’ as Stevie Strang concludes. We will never stop celebrating the earth with haiku! It is its poetic essence. and we humans in our mystery, dichotomies, and complexity, are part of the behavior of the natural world.

Paul David Mena now lives in Wayland, Massachusetts. His poem was sparked by a vivid memory from Manhattan where he lived as a child. Deborah P Kolodji is the moderator of the Southern California Haiku Study Group which meets at 2 pm on the 3rd Saturday of the month at the Hill Avenue Branch – Pasadena Library, where all interested in haiku are welcome. Her haiku was written on a recent ginko (haiku walk) to Andreas Canyon near Palm Springs, California. Stevie Strang, poet and artistic photographer extraordinaire, lives in the beach town of Laguna Niguel. Creative and observant poet and musician. Marcyn Del Clements lives near the foothills of the Claremont Wilderness Park, Claremont, California. Susan Rogers, a Los Angeles poet, is well known for her love for all creatures of the earth including humans. She is a giver of light, and travels often to Japan. Maureen Sexton is an Australian poet and photographer who honors and observes the intricacies and correspondences in natural life. Grace Galton lives in a tiny village in the South West of England when she isn’t indulging her passion for travel. Ardelle Ray, in Las Vegas Nevada, speaks for all of us poet-humans in honoring the simple wonder of existence of the small creatures of nature.
