In a display of community support and tech-driven outreach, Google and YouTube will host a press event this Wednesday at Pasadena High School to launch a bold new initiative supporting students and educators affected by the Eaton Fire earlier this year.

The event will bring together leading voices from government, education, and digital media. Attendees will include Congresswoman Judy Chu, Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, Pasadena Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Blanco, and popular YouTube creators Colin and Samir — who personally experienced loss during the Palisades fire.
Together, they will announce a significant recovery grant as part of a broader $15 million commitment from Google, YouTube, and Google.org to aid wildfire relief efforts throughout Greater Los Angeles. The funding aims to equip impacted schools with the tools and resources needed to restore and enhance teaching and learning in the aftermath of disaster.
As part of the event, Google will lead a hands-on coding workshop introducing students from the Pasadena Unified School District to foundational computer science concepts. The session is designed to spark interest in tech careers and empower students to apply digital skills to real-world challenges — including the increasing threat of wildfires.
Students will also have the chance to interact with Colin and Samir, who will speak candidly about their own recovery journey and the crucial role education plays in resilience and rebuilding.
In addition, Google will showcase its newly launched FireSat technology — a cutting-edge tool aimed at improving early wildfire detection and rapid response capabilities.
