Experience a one-day, hands-on Itajime Shibori Dyeing workshop with Armory Teaching Artist Tracy Nakayama for the closing weekend of From the Ground Up: Nurturing Diversity in Hostile Environments.

Learn the art of the traditional Japanese tie-dye technique of “board-clamping” folded fabric between wooden boards and dyeing it in rich indigo. The 2-hour workshop covers the technique of Itajime shibori, the art of indigo dyeing, and how to care for your finished textile. All materials will be provided for the workshop. You are welcome to bring natural fiber fabrics or garments to dye.
