As of Friday, September 27, 2024, residential households in the U.S. are eligible for another order of four free at-home tests from USPS.com.

- Orders will ship free, starting September 30, 2024.
Extended shelf life and updated expiration dates
Many COVID-19 tests have extended expiration dates, so you may be able to use your COVID-19 tests after the expiration date that is printed on the box. To find out if your test has an extended expiration date, check the FDA’s list of extended expiration dates.
Type of test kits
The tests available for order:
- Are rapid antigen at-home tests, not PCR
- Can be taken at home or other locations
- Give results within 30 minutes (no lab drop-off required)
- Can be used for testing even if you do not have COVID-19 symptoms
- Can be used for testing whether you are up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines or not
- Are also referred to as self-tests or over the counter (OTC) tests
What if I test positive?
A positive at-home test result means that the test found the virus, and you very likely have COVID-19.
If you test positive, follow the latest CDC guidance to prevent the spread of the virus.
