Ever wonder how Santa Monicans For Renters’ Rights (SMRR) fought for and won the strongest Rent Control Law in the country?

Pasadena Tenants Union‘s General Monthly Meeting will host guest speaker Denny Zane, founder of Santa Monicans For Renters’ Rights.

Denny Zane is the former Mayor of Santa Monica, and for 12 years one of its councilmembers, as well as the former Executive Director of the Coalition for Clean Air.

Zane is currently the Executive Director of Move LA, an organization working to coalesce environmental, labor, business, community and student leaders and organizations to ensure sufficient funding to provide a clean, efficient, and robust transit system for Los Angeles County. Move LA played a key role in moving Measure R, which provided for a ½-cent sales tax increase for transportation purposes, onto the Los Angeles County ballot and will generate nearly $40 billion in new transportation dollars over 30 years.

Children are welcome if supervised by parent or guardian. PTU’s meetings include a child’s
play area.
