About a year ago, a couple of actors/comedians, Tom Allen and John Parr, appeared before the Pasadena City Council during public comment for items not on the agenda.

John (“JT Parr” in character) began with a greeting they use at such appearances: “What Up Council?” He advocated for a response to the threat of Artificial Intelligence taking all of our jobs. His recommendation was that the government provide a universal basic income of $10,000 per month so that everyone could just party at the beach. He received a nice round of applause from the audience while the council sat in stunned silence.
They have appeared before the LA City Council in character (Tom as “Chad Kroeger,” surfer bro, and John as JT Parr) where they both spoke against the outlawing of house parties in the Hollywood Hills and about how such parties were integral to their development as confident young men. The council president at the time cut each of them off, apparently at a time limit, and thanked them. Tom and another buddy (Bodie Johnson) appeared before San Clemente City Council in 2017 as well. The pair advocated for the construction of a 12-foot statue of Paul Walker to be placed on the city pier, to provide a unifying figure to help heal the division in the country. They recounted what his movies had meant to them personally. San Clemente council members actually responded substantively to an item not on the agenda, with one asking if Paul Walker had any connection to the city. “Chad” said he went to high school here, but someone off camera corrected him and said his cousin was the one who went to high school here. The councilmember then said thank you for the enthusiasm but “Uh, no. Sorry bro.” Another praised the idea of a unifying figure and thanked them.
They have their own YouTube channel with over 1,000 videos created and with about 200,000 subscribers. They are currently appearing on the show Unstable on Netflix.

Honestly, not the most entitled stuff I’ve heard at a Pasadena City Council meeting for the public or nonprofit groups.
