The festival will offer a Japanese tea ceremony, a Tongva art demonstration, Johannes Line Dancing and Cultural Group (a Filipino dance troupe), the Verdugo Youth Symphony, and performances by School of Rock students. Attendees can also enjoy musical offerings from FUMC’s own choir and handbell ensemble.
For those looking for more hands-on fun, there will be a bounce house, soccer activities brought by the LA Football Association and LA Soccer Club, a Jiu-Jitsu demonstration, and a variety of games and crafts. All activities will be free and designed to engage visitors of all ages.
Festival-goers can relax with music and enjoy refreshments from local favorites such as Vivi’s Gourmet, Homeboy Bakery, Tepito’s Coffee Service, and Yoga-Gurt. There will also be booths celebrating Pasadena’s history and FUMC’s partnerships with key organizations such as The Armory, Learning Works/Grow Works, and the Planetary Society.
Community leaders at the event will speak about FUMC’s enduring impact on the community.
In the evening, from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm, guests are invited to attend a free Sesquicentennial Concert in the church’s sanctuary. Enjoy pieces performed by the First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir and a specially commissioned work to commemorate the 150th anniversary by organist Aaron Shows.
