At approximately 8:40 pm, emergency services responded to the scene after reports of heavy flames emerging from one of the units. Engine 81 from the South Pasadena Fire Department was the first to arrive on-site, finding a single-story, bungalow-style building with significant fire showing from the front door of one unit.
Firefighters, joined by additional units from Pasadena and Alhambra, deployed hose lines and launched an aggressive interior attack. Their quick, coordinated efforts kept the fire from spreading to neighboring units, significantly reducing the risk to the building and its residents.
Simultaneously, crews conducted a search of the unit to ensure no residents were trapped inside, while also making sure pets on the premises were safe. The operation was described as efficient, with the fire kept under control and contained to the unit of origin.
There were no injuries to the occupant, firefighters, or animals, though one resident was displaced. That individual is currently being provided with temporary housing.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the blaze.
