On March 13, 2025, at approximately 3:47 am, the Monterey Park Police Department responded to a fatal traffic collision in the 1100 block of West Garvey Avenue.

Authorities arrived on the scene to find a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole along the south sidewalk.
The driver, a male adult, was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat, while a female passenger was located outside the vehicle. Emergency personnel from the Monterey Park Fire Department arrived shortly after and pronounced the male driver deceased at the scene. The female passenger was treated for minor injuries and was transported to General Hospital for further care.
The Monterey Park Police Department Traffic Bureau has launched an active investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. Witnesses are urged to contact the Monterey Park Police Department at 626-307-1200.
