The Pasadena Fire Department (PFD) responded to the scene alongside the California Highway Patrol (CHP) after a vehicle struck the back of a box truck. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. One male driver, whose age was not immediately known, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The entire westbound side of the 210 was initially shut down, but by 7:00 am, crews had reopened two lanes to ease the traffic buildup.
