Pasadena Water and Power is replacing two water mains on Fair Oaks Ave., that have been in service for more than 90 years.
By News Desk
Both pipes, one 8-inch and one 12-inch, will be replaced by a 12-inch Ductile Iron Mainline Pipe to reinforce the reliability of the water service.
Work is set to begin near Washington Blvd. and Fair Oaks Ave. and proceed north over the course of a year. To minimize the impact on residents and businesses in the area, construction efforts will be contained to approximately one block at a time. Construction will intermittently affect water service, but notices of any water interruption will be provided at least 48 hours in advance.
What to Expect
During construction, a variety of heavy equipment will be used including excavators, backhoes, loaders, and construction trucks. Temporary traffic control and detour signs will be posted at all times during construction. Most work will occur Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Businesses in the area will remain open and accessible during construction.
Timeline and Location
Construction will begin in on Monday, March 11, 2024, and PWP plans to complete the project by March 2025. The project affects Fair Oaks Avenue, spanning from Montana St. to Washington Blvd. The map below shows the construction project location.
