Spellbound (Photo – United Artists)
Enjoy a showing of Spellbound (1945) by Alfred Hitchcock.
Dr. Constance Petersen (Ingrid Bergman) is a psychiatrist with a firm understanding of human nature—or so she thinks. When the mysterious Dr. Anthony Edwardes (Gregory Peck) becomes the new chief of staff at her institution, the bookish and detached Constance plummets into a whirlwind of tangled identities and feverish psychoanalysis, where the greatest risk is to fall in love.
This event is free with museum admission. No reservations needed. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the screening.
This film is presented as part of the Board of Trustees Film Series. In 1971 Norton Simon married Academy Award–winning actress Jennifer Jones. When the Norton Simon Museum opened a few years later, some familiar names in Hollywood were appointed to its board of trustees. In honor of the Museum’s 50th anniversary, enjoy a series of films selected from the extraordinary creative output of some of those trustees. Presented on select Friday evenings from May to July.
