Transform your lawn into a native plant garden – and get paid for it!
Now is the perfect time to convert your lawn into a habitat-friendly native plant garden. Join Barbara as she guides you through a successful project completed in 2023, offering a step-by-step overview of planning, turf removal, planting, and available turf replacement rebates.
Get practical advice on overcoming challenges, such as managing weeds and ensuring your new plants thrive. After the talk, engage in a Q&A session where you can ask questions and share your own experiences in native plant gardening and sustainability. Don’t miss this chance to turn your garden into a beautiful and ecologically valuable sanctuary.
Barbara Eisenstein is a passionate native plant gardening enthusiast, author, and blogger. Her book, “Wild Suburbia – Learning to Garden with Native Plants,” is a valuable resource for both novice and experienced gardeners interested in sustainable and habitat-friendly practices. Barbara’s commitment extends to her own backyard, where she designed, installed, and maintains her native plant garden in the heart of South Pasadena.
In 2006, Barbara founded Friends of South Pasadena Nature Park, a community stewardship program that has flourished under her leadership for 18 years. Her experience extends beyond her own garden and community work; she served on the board of the California Native Plant Society and offered horticultural outreach to the public through her work at the California Botanic Garden. She is currently promoting sustainable landscape practices as a board member of South Pasadena Beautiful.
